Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) can be widely used in completion drilling fluids and cementing slurries with significant performance advantages. Hydroxyethylcellulose HEC can be completely hydrolyzed by biological enzymes or in an acid environment with a certain pH value without residue, thereby ensuring the diversion efficiency of the reservoir, and its environmental protection performance is significantly better than other synthetic additives. At the same time, it also has the effects of controllable hydration time, rapid thickening efficiency in a short time, and filtration/water loss control.
In the cementing process, HEC has dual functions: one is to reduce hydraulic friction, reduce pump pressure, and increase speed; more importantly, HEC has excellent water loss function, which can effectively prevent water from flowing. The rock formation, resulting in the cementing is not fixed, but also protects the mechanical properties of the cement. The oilfield used HEC to successfully complete the cementing operation of deep wells over 4000-5000 meters. Low viscosity HEC is generally used in the cementing process and provides pseudiplastic flow and enhanced workability.
